TECHNOLOGY:

Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry.  We all know this definition, but when we kneely look into it we could understand that science, technology and engineering are interlinked.

For example, scientists use the technologies that engineers create (such as microscopes, monitors, and meters) to conduct their research. And when engineers start to design a new technology, they call on the knowledge of the natural world developed by scientists (for example, the law of gravity or how fluid flows). Engineering, science, and technology connect to each other.

Before get started to any technology, we should be aware of this quote 

“TECHNOLOGY is a useful SERVANT but a DANGEROUS master”

My favorite technology:

SONAR – Sound Navigation Ranging

Lewis Nixon invented the very first Sonar type listening device in 1906 as a way of detecting icebergs. In 1915, Paul Langevin invented the first sonar type device for detecting submarines called an “echolocation to detect submarines”

We all know how big an ocean is. It is immeasurable manually. So we go with few technologies to make the task quiet easier. I used wonder at these marine travelling since my schooling. During my graduation I started learning about the technologies behind those things. Now, let me share about few technologies which grabbed my attention beyond a level. One of them is SONAR.

SONAR uses sound propagation to help ships and submarines navigate the oceans and seas. SONAR can also be used to explore the depths of the ocean and the various objects found under the sea. Another type of application is in medicine and is called ultrasound medical imagining.

Sonar works by sending out sound waves and measuring how long it takes for the echo to return. If the water is shallow, sound waves that reflect off the bottom of the ocean will return faster than in deep sea. Ships and submarines also use sonar to navigate at sea.

The maximum distance would be around 30 miles, under near-perfect conditions, or if sound conditions refracted the sound into a “convergence zone” annulus.

It’s really hard to hear under water, this sonar helps us to explore various things regarding marine life. It would be an awesome experience to see the marine environment, it is made possible due to few of the technologies like this. This is the major reason why it is  my favorite part.
