A MUG OF COFFEE WITH A RISING STEAM DEPICTING JAVA AS A LANGUAGE.

Well , we all have seen unique logos representing programming language . These logos actually help us to differentiate one language with other . But do you really know the reason and logic behind it? Why a mug of coffee  is used to represent Java or Python snake for Python or Green droid for Android and  why not any other symbol?

Here, I am going to explain how and why programming language java is named as java and how it is related with a mug of coffee.

Java is considered as one of the most successful programming language developed because of its key features including Security , Portability , Architechture- neutral , Interpreted , Platform independent and so on.

Why A Mug Of Coffee For Java :

Java was conceived by James gosling , Patrik Naughton ,Chris warth , Ed frank and Mike Sheridan at Sun Microsystems, INC in 1991. James Gosling is considered as the FATHER OF JAVA  because he was the one who proposed the idea of JAVA VIRTUAL MACHINE and hence making language platform independent and portable.

There was a oak tree in front of the gosling’s office and as we have seen the logo of previous languages developed at the time like c and c++ there was no specialized  logos representing these languages individually.

Initially java was named as oak inspired from the oak tree in front of the office but unfortunateky the name was already acquired by the other company, so they  were supposed to change the name of the programming language they have developed.

James gosling was having a cup of coffee in his hand when he had a idea of developing these features in the language. As he wanted the name of the language  to be revolutionary, dynamic,  lively and fun. As the programming language is so unique So he avoided the nerdy names including ‘net’ or ‘web’ in it because according to him those names are forgettable .

JAVA!! Booooooomm!!

Language was named as java. Java is the name of island of Indonesia which is famous for its Coffee beans . The Java developers used to drink Peet’s coffee made from coffee beans from java. Thus, the coffee mug with a rising steam is used as symbol for java. Also, coffee seeds were also known ad ‘Java Beans’ hence one of the famous IDE  for java is named as NetBeans IDE.

They loved the coffee and  if you love it too!! So hit a like button 👍

    Nice research Kashish mam!
Truly some interesting facts about ‘Java’. Keep it up and give us more such facts about many programming languages! 👏✨
    All the best! 👍✨

After going through the content, I now wonder why didn’t James Gosling name it something like ‘Coffee’ or ‘Mug and Cofee’, ‘The Javanian program! 😁

But the name ‘Java’ definitely makes sense because even Guido Van Rossum, father of Python named the python programming language after the show ‘The Monty Python Flying Circus’. So, it definitely makes sense.

  8. Today, I went to the beach front with my kids.
I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.”
She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.

She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
